Edwin Carter Legacy Society
The Edwin Carter Legacy Society honors individuals who have made an estate gift to benefit the the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. These gifts provide a long-term financial resource to continue the Museum's mission to be a catalyst and ignite our community's passion for nature and science.
In recognition of the Museum's historical significance, the Legacy Society is named for Edwin Carter, a pioneer naturalist who almost single-handedly assembled one of the most complete collections of Colorado fauna in existence. His collection eventually became the nucleus for the Museum's collections when it opened in 1908.
Legacy Society donors may designate an estate gift to the Museum through various methods: bequests, life income gifts, trusts, insurance policies, IRA's, real estate or other gift arrangements. These future gifts become part of the DMNS Foundation, which provides oversight of the Museum's endowment as an essential long-term financial resource.
Our Legacy Society friends are honored each year at a special luncheon where they enjoy a spirited gathering of steadfast Museum supporters. They also receive special invitations during the year, as well as recognition in the Museum's annual report.
The only requirement for you to become a part of the Legacy Society is to notify the Museum when it is named in your will, trust, as a beneficiary of your insurance policy, retirement plan or when you establish a life income gift, such as a charitable gift annuity. If you have already included the DMNS Foundation or Museum in your estate plans, we would appreciate hearing from you. You can be listed with other Edwin Carter Legacy Society members in Museum publications, or you may wish to remain anonymous. Please contact us at 303.370.8262 to discuss any aspect of your future gift or to request information.
Your legacy gift will assure a strong financial future for the Museum, cementing it as an outstanding cultural asset for this generation and generations to follow.
